Oz: In the many years that I have lived, there was nothing I have encountered that did not change. The mightiest rivers have ceased to flow, the most formidable mountain ranges crumbled apart. How, then, is love and the heart to endure everlasting? …… Mayhaps vows are exchanged because people will always choose to believe, in spite of it all.
Arthur: If I were to serendipitously meet someone that I could swear eternal love to… I think, the way I would wish to introduce them to Oz sama would be, ‘This person is the one I wish to make a promise to.’ …… And then, if he were to smile and nod, just that alone would make me so happy I might cry tears of happiness.
Cain: I love you. …… Pfft, ahaha, you’re all red! I win again! Kenja sama, aren’t you kind of bad at this game of ‘I love you’*? Come on, give it another shot. Tell me you love me in a way that’ll turn me red.
* A party game, more or less like a game of chicken, but the objective is to make the other person blush/laugh/giggle first.
Riquet: A way to communicate your feelings to someone precious to you… One could hold their hand, gaze deeply into their eyes, or say something really special to them, but I wonder what other ways there might be. Shylock and Rustica are really good at this, right? I’ll go ask them right now!
Snow: Do you like the taste of the miso-esque soup* we made? … Ohoho, it makes us happy to see you so happy! Then, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, and all the tomorrows that come after — you’ll have soup to enjoy, specially made for you! By Nero!
* “I want to enjoy your miso soup every day” is a stereotypically romantic line for proposals.
White: To spend your entire life with your beloved is a priceless gift. Naturally, it won’t all be sunshine and daisies. There will be moments when you’re blindsided by challenges, but even those moments will become wonderful memories. … Ohoho, are you questioning the legitimacy of me saying this, as someone who lost his life to the foolhardiness of youth? I have been plenty happy, and I still am.
Mithra: Kenja sama, these flowers are for you. I was strolling about in the marketplace to kill some time, and these flowers were foisted onto me. No… to be accurate, they came flying straight at me. There were bells ringing, and people in lavish white outfits. The flowers came from them. I have no use for these flowers, so put them in a vase, do whatever, they’re yours to do as you see fit.
Owen: « cur memini » Kenja sama, I’ve cast a spell on you so you can’t say anything but ‘ew’. Hey, hey, what do you think of me? … What about everyone else in the Magical Manor? … Do you like yourself? … Hey, don’t remain silent. If you do, I’ll cast a spell that makes you say worse things, hmm?
Bradley: In Northern Country, people who have irreplaceable things are the people who die off first. Even if we do love something, we must always be prepared to let go of that very thing at any moment. Well, that’s easier said than done…… Haha, don’t make that face. Yeah, it’s tough, but we gotta keep our pride.
Faust: Me, a curse specialist, swearing eternal love to someone… You can’t be serious. In the first place, the person that I swear my love to will face nothing but disasters…… You think that receiving vows from ‘someone as honest and sincere as Faust’ would make anyone happy? …… (quiet laugh) Really, now, you’ve got a way with words.
Shino: You won’t know someone’s the one until you actually meet ’em. But if a person that I wouldn’t want to let go of did appear… I wouldn’t hesitate. I’d propose to them right then and there. It’s because I’d want us to be family.
Heathcliff: It’s not easy to put feelings into words. A lot of times, I end up wondering how much of what I said actually got through to the other person… That’s why if I had to communicate my most heartfelt thoughts, I’ll convey them through a letter. Oh, and with a bouquet that represents my feelings too. But maybe saying my thoughts aloud to them face to face would make them happier…?
Nero: Back when I still ran my restaurant, there was this old couple that always dropped by for their wedding anniversary. They didn’t say more than a few words to each other, not even while they ate, but they had, like, I guess you could call it a sense of contentment? I got that sorta feeling from them. It ain’t something I’d ever get to call mine, but seeing them have each other to spend time in peace together like that does make me a little envious.
Shylock: I have lived through my fair share of years, and in that time I have been fortunate to come across love in its myriad shapes and forms. Love can be a burning passion, a dance, a duel, and I’ve found that being the object of such fiery pursuit is not bad at all. Yet what pleases me the most is receiving pure-hearted, genuine words. That’s right. That's your speciality.
Murr: You wanna hear how I’d propose? Okay, you only get to hear my second-best proposal line, but sure thing! I’m saving my best line for my one true love! If you want to hear it, then you’ve got to outdo the Moon.
Chloe: If it were up to you, Kenja sama, would you prefer for your wedding ceremony to be lively or solemn? As for me… they’re both equally appealing, I can’t decide! I’d be able to chat lots with everyone at the lively wedding, and that’d be so much fun, but I also admire how coolly majestic a solemn wedding ceremony can be… Well, no matter which it turns out to be, I want to make the outfits!
Rustica: I came across a lovely bouquet of roses at the marketplace, and I thought of you, Kenja sama. Ah… it’s just as I had imagined; you look beautiful with it. … Back in your world, do the number of roses in a bouquet carry any meaning? In that case, what does this bouquet mean?
Figaro: Love. The word itself speaks of something uncertain, vague, and highly subjective from person to person. But many seek a universal meaning of love, and in the pursuit of that meaning, they keep reaching out to grasp it. I have yet to truly understand the meaning behind their pursuit. That being said, I find such actions foolish but lovable nevertheless.
Rutile: K-K-Kenja sama, h-h-hello. P-Pardon me, I drank tea made from quivering roses*, and it seems like the quivering property wasn’t all boiled out properly. I-If you don’t mind, could you please give me a l-l-little hug?
* Quivering roses is the cooking ingredient from Bride 2022. A hug from someone else will stop the quivering.
Lennox: I believe that it is truly difficult for a relationship to endure until death do ye part. No matter how strong your love might be, time and circumstances will not be so lenient. That is why there is great meaning behind the resolve of those that exchange vows to be together forevermore.
Mitile: I’ve heard about my parents’ wedding ceremony from Father. Father looked so happy when he was telling me all about it…… When I marry my beloved, I want to have an unforgettable wedding ceremony just like theirs.
