Rutile: Oh dear. He turned into a beast, just like that......?
Lennox: Yes. The traveler kept journeying anyway, even though his body had been turned into a monster. In order to meet his lover, he once again set off for home.
And this song is his story.
Akira: That's...... I'm not sure if I should say that's a good thing, or a sad thing. It's kind of complicated.
I listened closely to the song called The Traveller Peryton on the Journey of Love once again after hearing Lennox recount the tale.
Nero: That song sounds kinda heartrending when you listen to it, huh.
Rutile: Oh, really? To me it sounds like a happy tune.
Akira: Oh yeah, while I was listening to it in the courtyard, it sounded like both to me. Sort of happy, sort of heartrending...
Rustica: It is a strange tune, isn't it?
Rustica posed his question as if he were singing along to the tune, his fingers never once stopping their playing.
Rustica: This song is said to represent the two hearts of the Peryton.
Akira: Hearts? Two of them?
Rustica: That's right. One being the sorrow of the Peryton who has to continue his journey despite being turned into a beast...
And the other being the joy of the Peryton who is able to continue his journey back home to see his lover despite having once lost his life.
Perhaps that is why there are times this song sounds like nothing but joy, and there are also times where you will hear nothing but sorrow.
Rutile: So it depends on when you hear it... I wonder if there'll come a time where it sounds heartrending to me.
Rustica: There will. It all depends on your heart. You may look forward to a morning rendezvous, but then feel lonely when you have to part under the sunset sky.
Yet, if you happen to rendezvous in the night, the sunset sky sets your heart dancing with excitement, for happiness is near. It must be the same with this song.
Nero: ...Dunno, it feels weird to me, like people can read you just from what you think of a song.
Rustica: Worry not. If you did happen to look forward to a morning rendezvous with someone, I shall keep it to myself.
Nero: Haha, thanks. And I guess when that happens, I've got to make you a serving of savarin.
Mithra: No. Please make it meat if you have to thank someone.
Nero: Uuugh, Mithra!?
Akira: Ahh! I didn't notice you there... How long have you been here?
Mithra: I just arrived. I was hungry, and I thought there might be something to eat.
Oh, these wooden sticks will do.
Lennox: Mithra, those are the churros that Nero made for Snow sama.
Nero: Seriously, do not eat unidentified wooden objects when you have a chef here in the Magical Manor, please......
Rutile: How about preparing something else for Mithra san? I think I have cookies somewhere in my room—
Mithra: (muffled, garbled) And you were saying?
Akira: (And it goes into his mouth in a flash......)
Right then, another wizard's voice rang out in the cafeteria.
Murr: The sound of a harpsichord! It's a concert by Rustica!
Owen: Something smells sweet.
Akira: Murr, Owen!
Murr: Rustica, let's collaborate! I'm on tambourines!
Owen: Hold it right there, Mithra. What are you having all to yourself?
As if it were the most natural thing to do, Mithra and Owen started eating and fighting over the churros.
They did not spare a clearly different from usual Snow a second glance.
Murr: Ahahah!
Murr was clearly having fun, shaking his tambourines and going ring-a-ling-ling in tandem with Rustica's music.
Akira: (I don't know why there's chaos, but there's chaos......)
Amidst the chaos, slowly, gradually, Snow sat upright.
He took the last churro for himself, and smiled like a weary grown-up would.
Snow: Sigh...... Sorry for making everyone worry.
Rutile: Snow sama.
Akira: Oh, what a relief. Are you feeling any better now?
Owen: No one's in the least worried for you. You could stay curled up in a corner all you want, and we'd all have peace.
Mithra: If that's the case, then I don't mind dumping him somewhere in the snowy mountains of Northern Country.
Snow: You two are always...... Have you two ever once considered being kind when you see me down and dejected like this?
Mithra & Owen: Never.
Snow: I understand. Never change, you two.
Snow: But that does not matter. Thanks to Rustica's song and Nero's churros, a ray of hope has lifted my heart out of the darkness.
I, too, will not give up, just like the traveller-turned-peryton that was heading for home.
Rustica: A wonderful decision. That's the Snow sama I've always known.
Nero: Good for you, if that's the case......
Akira: (If Snow has taken on an optimistic outlook, does that mean the song sounded like a joyful one to him? What a strange song indeed.)
Snow: ...... And with that, everyone! Let us away to remedy the happenings at the Town of Ice!
Rutile & Nero & Akira: Whaaat!?
We couldn't help but express our surprise at the sudden request, though Rustica and Murr nodded at once.
Rustica: It would be my pleasure. I haven't the foggiest what's going on, but I would gladly accompany you.
Murr: Yeah, I'm down! I don't know what's up, but it sounds interesting!
Akira: (It's amazing how the West just takes the unknown in their fearless stride.)
Owen: No. I'm not touching any trouble at the twins' town.
Mithra: I too shall turn you down. I don't like trouble.
Akira: (Aaaand over here we have the indomitable North and their immediate rejections......)
Murr: Hey, White's not coming along? You two are always together though.
Snow: We have our reasons. I want to go without White knowing.
Owen: See, it's getting fishier by the second.
Mithra: How suspicious.
Owen: With how fast your mood changed, your dejection up until just now was probably just a ruse.
Snow: It was not an act! All I did was exaggerate it to about three times more than what it actually was!
Rutile: There must be some reason behind it. Snow sama, if you'll have me, I'll come along with you.
I may not be as strong as Owen san or Mithra san, but I'll do my best.
Mithra: Hey, please do not.
For someone as weak as you, going to the Northern Country again and again is gambling with your life.
Rutile: Of course I'm well aware it's a dangerous place. I'll be cautious, and I definitely won't do anything that would make you worry.
I want to help Snow sama, and if there's strange happenings, I don't think I can stand idly by.
Lennox: That's right. Mithra, I'll go too.
I'll watch over Rutile in your stead. So don't worry.
Snow: What a way to put it! Rutile, Lennox, let us away with Murr and the others!
Rutile & Lennox: Sure thing!
Mithra: Sigh...... Are you making light of Northern Country? There's no way you Southern Wizards would get it.
I will go too. We will go, and immediately return.
Snow: Yaaaay! Mithra chan, that's what model student's behaviour should be!
Rustica: Snow sama, you truly are good at getting your students to dance to your tune.
Akira: I... I suppose so...?
Owen & Nero: ............
Nero: Well, since the discussion's come to an end, I'll head back to the kitchen, got some cleaning up to do and all.
Owen: Nero, instead of cleaning, you should make me a second helping of churros.
Mithra: You two over there.
Nero: M-Mithra? Wha- What are you grabbing my arm for?
Owen: Oi, let go.
Mithra: As I've deigned to head over there, there's no way I'm letting you two off the hook.
Mithra: « arsim »
[ Town of Ice ]
Akira: Wahh!?
The door opened up, and we were all tossed out onto the piled-up snow.
I turned around, but the door had already closed itself, leaving behind a fast-disappearing outline.
Owen: Tch.
Nero: And here I was, thinking this time I wouldn't get roped in......
Snow: Ohoho. Welcome to our town, everyone.
Before us was just as Snow described -- it was the Town of Ice, which was under the twins' protection.
Snow piled up in the streets just like a layer of fresh cream.
The cold cut through the air even though there was no wind, and that was truly, very, really–
Akira: C-C-Ccccccccold.......!
Snow: My apologies. Humans like you would not be able to withstand the cold in such thin clothing. Let me cast a spell to warm you up.
Rustica: « amorest viesse »
Snow & Akira: .........!
Our outfits changed as soon as Rustica said his spell-word.
We were now clad in clothing suited for snowy lands, made of thick fabric and white fur.
Lennox: This is... warm.
Rutile: Yes, very much so! The fur's so fluffy!
Rustica: Snow sama, do forgive my insolence. I thought this would be the fastest way to go about it, if only for our Kenja sama's sake.
And besides, it's not every day that we can gather like this to visit the Town of Ice.
By wearing matching clothing and sharing our moments like this, everything comes together to create the most exciting memories, wouldn't you agree?
Snow: Ohoho, indeed, indeed! They do look stylish. I like this outfit.
Like frost and crystals, the design of these outfits were vividly crisp.
At the same time, it must have been enchanted by magic to keep its wearer warm and toasty.
