Manor Courtyard - Spot Main Episodes

Training Spot - Central Country [ Manor Courtyard ]
Writer: Kowo Kazma @kowo_k

Spot information:
The courtyard in the Magical Manor where the Sage and the Sage's Wizards live. It's a relaxing place for the wizards to have tea parties, a classroom where teaching and learning takes place, and also a place for all-out brawls to be fought. Its beautiful landscaping and fountain are changed up ever so often as a result of lessons and fights and just general chaos, but it seems like some sort of magic returns the area to what it once was the next morning. It is also a popular spot in the manor for cats to gather.

Manor Courtyard - Main Episode 1

[ Magical Manor - Courtyard ]

Snow: Dear Kenja. Today, we shall show you how to train your wizards right here in this very manor!
White: Will we become the strongest wizards out there? Or will we become wacky wizards? It's all up to you!
Akira: You do know that's a real heavy responsibility, right!? And you're saying it's all up to me?
Snow: Ohoho. The Great Sage guides wizards, and forges connections with their hearts. There is no one more suited than you.
White: Moreover, this Magical Manor is a place filled with the memories of your predecessors, who all faced down the < Great Calamity >.
We're certain that the Magical Manor itself will watch over you and our growth, so you can be at ease and go at your own pace.
Akira: I sure hope so... I look forward to working with all of you: Snow, White, and Magical Manor san and all its memories.

Snow: Now, without further ado, let us begin. Kenja, what do you wish to know most?
Akira: Hmm, let's see... What exactly should I be doing when you say 'guide' and 'train' wizards?
Snow: A good start. Let us explain how to build up strong wizards.

Snow & White: Now presenting: The Making of A Strong Wizard~!
White: Ancient teachings say that wizards who abide by the guidance of the Great Sage and forge strong connections shall awaken into a new form with an enriched heart.
Snow: Magic comes from the heart. A wizard's growth is tied to the enrichment of their heart, and so is their magic.
White: The Sage shall, with the Sage's Wizards, visit locales all around the world to experience many new things...
Snow & White: ... because a variety of shared experiences is vital to enrichment!
Akira: I see... Um, in other words...
I'll need to support and watch over them as they engage in these activities.
... Does that sound about right?
Snow: Excellent~! You've got it!
White: That's our Kenja chan! You learn quick!
Akira: I'm glad to hear that... I think that's somewhat feasible for me, what a relief. I'll do my best!
Snow & White: Umu. We'll be counting on you!

Snow: Now, to put it into practice! Let's try engaging in some of the activities here.
No matter where you go, there'll be about five unique activities for you to participate in.
White: For example, here in the Magical Manor's Courtyard, we can train, hum a song, water the plants, join a study session, or hold a meeting.
You're free to choose whichever activity you like, but if you're uncertain, let's train for now. Try choosing that.

Manor Courtyard - Main Episode 2

Shylock: I feel fortunate to be watching over you, Kenja sama.
You have such a knack for inviting wizards to join you in your activities. So much so that I too was tempted, and nearly found myself joining in.
Akira: Thank you very much! Did you just happen to be on a stroll out here, Shylock?
Shylock: Snow sama and White sama informed me that the rest of us teachers are to provide you with guidance.
If only I'd known that you would be this much fun... I wish they had invited me to join in from the start.
After all, I am better suited than anyone else in this manor to gently hold your hand while you take your first steps.
Akira: I-I appreciate the sentiment, but being treated gently makes me nervous in a different sort of way......
Shylock: Fufu. How adorable of you.

Shylock: I shall now give you a lesson on how the enrichment of the heart is directly linked to magical strength.
Akira: The relationship between an enriched heart and magical strength, you mean?
Shylock: Yes.
It is said that there are five primary elements that contribute towards the enrichment of a wizard's heart. These elements come from interacting with others.
Hmm, let's see if I can break it down further for your understanding. To put it simply, Kenja sama...
They are best described as: Passion. Happy. Relax. Cool. Pride
Akira: I see... Five elements make up an enriched heart.
Shylock: In simple terms, yes. In reality, the heart is much more complex than that.

Shylock: Enrichment gained from interacting during activities is directly proportional to our strength against the < Great Calamity >.
The more wizards participating in an activity, the more enriching it is.
It will do you good to involve as many wizards as you can in an activity.
Akira: As many as I can in one go... What should I do to get everyone to join in?
Shylock: Right... You could try paying close attention to the wizards you're with.
I think that someone like you, Kenja sama, will have no problem identifying how keen they are on participating.
Akira: Everyone's interest levels...
...... Come to think of it, it may or may not have been there, but I did sense some sort of aura that indicated that they wanted to join in...
Shylock: Oya. I'm ashamed of myself for overstepping.

Shylock: How was that? Have you improved your understanding of the enrichment of a wizard's heart?
Akira: Thank you so much, Shylock. In other words...
Enrichment is comprised of primarily five elements, namely, Passion, Happy, Relax, Cool, and Pride.
To raise strong wizards, I'll need to interact with lots of them all at once, and this will enrich all of their hearts.
Shylock: Wonderful. I'm sure everyone is looking forward to receiving an invitation from you, Kenja sama.
Now, for our next activity, you should select something that more wizards wish to participate in.

Manor Courtyard
- Main Episode 3

Faust: Good progress, Kenja.
Akira: Faust... You were watching over me too? Thank you.
Faust: I'd like to help guide you as well. Please feel free to ask me questions if there's anything you don't understand.
Akira: This is starting to feel like a classroom-based lesson...! I'm happy to learn from you, Faust sensei.
Faust: Please, not you too. I'll try my best to make things easy to digest, but at the end of the day, this isn't a job suitable for a hermit like me.

Faust: Now, let us begin. I believe Snow and White have already explained to you the purpose of training.
Akira: Yes, they have. I learned that I'm supposed to support the wizards while they interact with each other, and this will lead everyone to awaken into a stronger form.
Faust: Correct. We will be learning about one of the many vital components in awakening a wizard...
I shall now teach you all about traits.
Akira: Traits... It's quite hard to picture. What are traits like?
Faust: Traits come from interacting with allies who join in for activities, or they're native to the locale where the activity takes place. You can think of traits as essentially the quality or nature of a thing.
Even the < Great Calamity > itself and the places where it's fought have traits of their own.
Wizards under the guidance of the Great Sage will inherit these traits through training.
You could even say that they end up rubbing off on each other. Allies that you travel with, the places that you stay at — they all carry some sort of influence, however small.
Akira: Ah... I think I kind of get it.
You change over time as a result of spending time with others... We humans experience that too.
Faust: You do.

Faust: It's said that wizards under the guidance of the Great Sage are influenced by both traits and enrichment, and will attain a variety of awakened forms.
Consequently, these forms will become your tools to victory as they possess traits advantageous against certain enemies and environments.
Akira: I see... I'll need to secure a variety of traits so I can have effective match-ups against different enemies and environments.
Faust: That's right. You're a good student.
Akira: O-oh, I'm glad to hear that. Thank you very much...

Faust: One more thing. Incompatible traits exist as well, and they will affect the wizard under your guidance.
Wizards who inherit these incompatible traits may not be able to awaken into an expected form. It goes without saying that different forms have different traits they are incompatible with.
If a wizard happens to be unable to awaken into a particular form, it will do you good to look them up.
Akira: Got it.

Faust: Now, I'd like you to summarize what we've gone over thus far.
Akira: It's just like class...! Hmm, let's see...
Traits gained from interacting with other wizards, or from doing activities at locales, may lend an advantage in combat.
They also affect the form a wizard awakens into, but if an incompatible trait is present, the wizard might not awaken into a certain form as planned. Does that sound right?
Faust: Excellent. Full marks.

Akira: Faust, I have a question. Where can I look up these necessary or incompatible traits?
Faust: That's a good one. You can drop by the Forest of Ice or the Town of Ice in Northern Country.
There, the twins can look up these traits in detail and inform you of them. I'm certain it'll be of great help if you happened to have a particular form in mind.
Akira: So it's the Forest of Ice or the Town of Ice. Alright.

Faust: I would like to share with you my next piece of advice, however...
The wizard-in-training seems rather tired. I think it may be time for some rest.
Accidents happen when a wizard pushes himself despite having no stamina left. In other words, there's a higher chance of failing an interaction.
Failing an interaction may lead to injury. Do watch out, and don't let the wizard overexert himself.
Naturally, this applies to you as well.

Manor Courtyard
- Main Episode 4

Figaro: Kenja sama, I hope you're not pushing yourself to the point of injury.
Akira: Figaro. Are you here to provide your guidance too?
Figaro: I'm here because I heard you're working yourself to the bone. If anything should happen to you, come to Dr Figaro and let him treat you.
Akira: Thank you. Figaro, I heard you're a famous doctor from Southern Country.
Figaro: That's correct. I suppose right about now, you're starting to get the hang of training wizards?
Akira: Yes. Bit by bit, sort of.
Figaro: If that's the case, then I'll share with you how to further strengthen the wizards under your care.

Figaro: Firstly, it's important to know the skills of the other wizards accompanying the wizard you wish to train. It'll help increase the enrichment gained.
Akira: Skills do that?
Figaro: Yep. Wizards supporting the training session all have their own skills for helping interactions along.
Some may be good at ensuring interactions succeed; some are good at improving the mood and restoring stamina; some may even be proficient at drawing out conversations and traits.
Akira: I see, they're all skills for growth. I'll check their skills before inviting other wizards along.

Figaro: As for my second point, each and every locale has its own unique method to raise wizards.
Just like there are places that make it easy to gain lots of enrichment, there are also areas where there's lots of items to find. There's also spots that make it more likely for wizards to awaken into the form you desire...
And also places where you, Kenja sama, will gain experience at a higher rate. You should select locales based on your goals.
Akira: Training locales, right? Got it. I'm excited to visit lots of places and experience lots of different things!
Figaro: That's the spirit. I'm happy to see you enjoying your time in our world.

Figaro: Last but not least, my third point. This applies to you yourself too, but sometimes, I'd like if if you could pay attention to the wizard's moods.
His moods will affect his heart, magic, and skills. An excellent mood will certainly result in interactions going swimmingly.
On the other hand, it'll be hard for his heart to become enriched if he's caught a cold, or if he's injured.
Akira: Mood, huh... Alright! I'll be sure to watch over everyone with utmost care and attention!

Akira: So, umm, to summarise what you've taught me so far......
Number 1 — I have to select a training spot that suits my goals.
Number 2 — I have to check the skills of the wizards accompanying us.
Number 3 — I'll need to keep an eye on everyone's mood.
... Does that sound right?
Figaro: Wonderfully done. That's our Kenja sama for sure.
Akira: Phew! Thank you very much! I think I'll be able to make sure interactions go smoothly!
Figaro: If that's the case, how about you freely interact for a bit? You needn't worry. There's no right or wrong way to play this game.
As for the wizards — I look forward to seeing what form they'll grow into someday. I'll watch over them too.
So Kenja sama, you too, go have some fun.

Manor Courtyard -
Main Episode 5

Snow: Dear Kenja. We see you've been hard at work.
White: The wizard under your guidance has been steadily growing. His heart has been enriched. Please accept our thanks.
Akira: Snow, White. No, thank you.

Snow: Now, we shall show you the ropes for chatting with wizards that are currently participating in an activity.
Akira: Chatting? By chat, do you mean something like what I'm doing right now, chatting with both of you?
Snow & White: That's right!

White: You'll certainly end up chatting about this and that while participating in an activity with a wizard.
Snow: Many of us wizards are shy. There's a bit of a trick to it if you wish to chat lots with us.
Akira: A trick... I'd like to know how, please!

White: Umu. Firstly, when doing activities, it helps to a choose a place the wizard is associated with.
Snow: If you're with a Northern Wizard, then go to Northern Country with him! If you're with a Southern Wizard, then head down to Southern Country! You should be visiting locales they're well-acquainted with.
White: By doing that, everyone will be more relaxed and more likely to chat with you about the spot you're training at.
Snow: In the event that we are requested to investigate strange occurrences, the wizard associated with that place is the best candidate for the job. You might even be able to resolve the request while training.
Akira: Understood. It's easiest for them to open up when they're in their own respective countries.
White: Correct. What you chat about will influence the wizard — it might end up being an enriching time, or it might affect his mood, so on and so forth.
Snow: And don't forget that these influences add up, which will affect the form that he awakens into. But in general, the more you chat with him, the stronger he grows!
Akira: I see... I'd like to ask everyone lots of questions, and get to know everyone better.
White: Ohoho. We too, would like to learn more about you as well.

Snow: How was that? Did you get the concept behind chatting with us wizards?
Akira: Yes! In other words...
If I want to chat lots with the wizard I'm training, I'll have to interact with him in his home country.
Snow & White: Very good! You deserve a gold star!

White: Now, I believe it's time for a short break.
Snow: You can even choose to call it here if you wish. But keep in mind that the longer you keep a training session going, the more enriched a wizard's heart becomes.
White: If you would, we'd like you to continue this training session, and listen to what Oz has to say.

Manor Courtyard -
Main Episode 6

Oz: Kenja, good progress.
Akira: Thank you, Oz. It's because of all the teachers advising me thus far that I've grasped the basics of guiding and training a wizard.
There's a few more things I'd like to know, so if you don't mind — could I ask you?
Oz: If I know the answer, you may.

Option 1: Ask about traits.
Option 2: Ask about items.
Option 3: Ask about chats.

> Ask about traits.

Akira: If I may, I'd like to know if you have any handy tips about traits.
Oz: Tips............
Traits are broadly inherited from three sources.
Firstly, Allies. Wizards in your party will pass traits on. As for what trait, it changes depending on the wizards accompanying you.
Next, Dialogues. Having a conversation at your destination will pass traits on. As for what trait, it changes depending on where you train.
Then, Locales. When an interaction produces a great success, the locale will pass traits on. As for what trait, it changes depending on where you train.

Akira: (Right... I've heard about Allies and Locales from Faust, and Dialogues from the twins...

> Ask about items.

Akira: I've noticed that at our destinations, I sometimes receive, or come across, strange items.
These are things like herbs, incense, and food.
If I may, I'd like to know any handy tips about these items, and how to properly use them.
Oz: Tips............
These 'strange items' you've found are beneficial tools for training wizards.
Items that improve stamina and mood. Items that greatly increase the enrichment of the heart. Items that affect trait acquisition.
There are a variety of effects to them. You can activate multiple items with each interaction you make.
You should bring them in before you start the training session, and use them during.

Akira: I see... By the way, Oz, are there any items in particular that you recommend bringing?
Oz: Recommendations............
Biscuits. Biscuits make it easier to improve the outcome of any interaction.

> Ask about chats.

Akira: During interactions, I really enjoy my time chatting with everyone. I want to hear more stories from them.
If I may, I'd like to know if you have any handy tips for chatting with the others.
Oz: Tips............
There are a few reasons why the wizards might want to bring a topic up.
Firstly, the skills of those in your party matter. There are wizards that possess skills that encourage conversation when you have them join you on an activity.
Akira: (Skills... These must be what Figaro had taught me, he did mention wizards having skills.)

Oz: Next, you can make use of a wizard's bell. It is a magical tool of folklore that is said to summon wizards.
Akira: (Wizard's Bell... I might have chanced upon one during my travels. I'll check my inventory after this.)

Oz: Lastly, it depends on the wizard himself. Raising wizards at the locale he's associated with will make him more willing to bring up topics about the place and himself.
If the wizard you're training has some sort of relation to the wizard that the place is associated with, it should be more likely for him to approach you for a chat as well.
Akira: Some sort of relation... Such as friends of the wizard that the place is associated with, or his acquaintances from the past?
Oz: Correct. Also, wizards from the same hometown, or wizards that have forged new bonds in this very Magical Manor.

Akira: I've got it now! Thank you very much, Oz.
Oz: .........

Oz: As you might already be aware, after our most recent battle against the < Great Calamity >, lots of strange occurrences have started cropping up all over the world.
And ever since the capital of Central Country was saved, the Magical Manor has received requests asking the Sage's Wizards' aid in resolving these incidents.
This may be troublesome, but you will now have to juggle going to the destinations of those requests, putting a stop to those strange occurrences, and participating in group sparring to prepare for emergencies.
Akira: All right. I'll do my best to help, and make sure I'm not holding anyone back.
Oz: We'll be counting on you.

Oz: That will be all, Kenja. Now, summarise all that you have learnt today.
Akira: Okay!
I'll need to guide and train wizards by interacting with them at different locales around the world, and watch over them, so that they'll grow strong enough to be able to face down the < Great Calamity >.
The forms that a wizard awakens into at the end of training is affected by the locale he's trained at, and also by the wizards in our party that he's interacted with.
Oz: Yes. You did well.
Akira: Thank you so much!

Oz: From here on, you'll be getting us to go with you to various places for requests, sparring, or training.
But there's just one thing, Akira — let us Sage's Wizards protect you.
You are the Great Sage. You shall guide the Sage's Wizards.
Akira: I'll try. I'll give it all I've got.
Oz: Good. Everyone is looking forward to going places with you.
Best of luck, Kenja.
